When I was a child, I had a poster of Garfield on a scale that said "Diet" is simply "Die" with a "t".    I agree with Garfield.  Diets may include calorie cutting, food limiting, hormone injections, and/or exercising for the goal of fat and weight loss.  However, fat loss may create an increase in toxic density. This also may result in weight rebounding, as toxic overload triggers the body's need to create fat, so the weight is regained.  Fat can be created and stored to protect the body from toxins and impurities, this unwanted weight is actually serving a purpose.  When you cleanse on a cellular level, this removes toxins from the body, exercise can create lean muscles, and excess fat may melt away.  Maintaining nutritional balance keeps the body naturally lean and supports our natural cleansing which manages and releases toxins out of the body.  Nutritional balancing is not a diet!  Lets face it, we need to eat food to survive, so dieting is not my choice for maintaining healthy weight.  There are tons of food choices and many choices of things to eat that should not be considered food and don't even resemble what real food is.  Simply eating whole foods like plants rather than eating what was produced in a plant is going to provide us with the nutrition that our bodies need to thrive.

We no longer hunt and gather, so many people don't know how to just eat a plant.  Sometimes fruits, veggies, whole grains and what we would think is healthy can now be non-labeled Genetically Modified Food Organisms (GMO).  Being unaware of these food choices and with mainstream media misinforming us to eat processed foods (and lots of them), we have developed many of health issues, such as obesity, malnourishment, diabetes, high blood pressure, Alzheimer's, brain tumors and many others.  Tons of documentaries and newsletters are available to learn more about the processed food, pharmaceutical and medical industries and how we can navigate through it to better our health, rather than unknowingly creating disease.  I like the one called "Forks Over Knives", while watching it I learned
"most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods".  I also enjoyed "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead".  This documentary highlights what a wide spread problem our weight issues have become and is an extreme example of how obesity and disease can be reversed through juicing, exercise and support.  It was almost too weird for me to know that the two main dudes in that documentary both had "cholinergic urticaria", a disease/condition my oldest son got diagnosed with just weeks after watching this video.  It is a crazy heat induced hive thing that can effect the whole body.  For a few weeks, my sweet son broke out all over his skin. when he both exercised and took hot showers daily. Thank goodness, through research, a cleanse and a miracle, he no longer suffers with this issue.  In many cases, those who develop this condition end up on pharmaceutical antihistamines or anti inflammatory medications for life. But, not my boy! ;-)  I also enjoyed and learned a lot watching "Food Matters" and "May I Be Frank".  These videos were not only interesting but entertaining too.  These documentaries showcase how health can be regained by changing the way we eat, think and live. Check them out!

I most recently watched a documentary called "Hungry for Change".  I thought of so many people who have concerns about their weight and who eat "diet" foods.   These are foods with aspartame, or foods labeled "sugar/fat free".   These foods may not only be causing other health issues but may actually be contributing to people staying overweight and under nourished.  Foods that contain caffeine and other potentially harmful ingredients effect us in ways we would not think. Sometimes what we eat and are exposed to in other forms like air, water, drugs and etc. contribute to our bodies need to hold and produce more fat and cholesterol.  In fact, when we store toxicity in our fat cells it actually protects us from those toxins circulating in our blood streams.  Our bodies do amazing things as solutions to issues. In this documentary experts describe over eating as a solution to the need to protect ourselves emotionally, but it actually creates health issues.

Especially after the holiday season filled with turkey and pies we set our new year resolutions.  Come see me and kick start your digestive health with a colon hydrotherapy session and a quick internal rejuvenation building cleanse.  Ask me about my "New Year New You" special!

I really want you all to see this documentary so I am offering free viewing to all clients who come in for a session over the next few months.  I will have the video set up in my "finding peace" room and you can soak your feet, sip on a healthy drink and watch while you relax in my healing sanctuary.   I am finding this documentary to be very informative, well done and helpful with my desire to become a more proficient educator in the healing arts.
I hope my enthusiasm for "Hungry for Change" is evidence enough as to why anyone who values their health should watch this.  A list of documentaries that I have appreciation for and feel are worth viewing are listed in the resource section of my web site.  Soon you will also see the list of books that I have enjoyed.  I have a huge collection and am beginning to add those as a section to my site.

It is with this enthusiasm for healthy foods that I recommend people fill their plates with lots of colorful, organic fresh vegetables including lots of dark leafy greens!

Here is a sample of a quick, nourishing salad you can make which will not only satisfy your taste buds, but will also nourish your body:

Fill your plate with:
1/2 Organic Spinach
1/2 Organic Kale
1 Organic Chopped Tomato
3 T Sauerkraut
Handful of Diced Black Olives & Capers (tapenade)
Pair with 1 or whole Carrots to munch on, with hummus and/or soaked almonds for extra protein.
Top with splash of olive oil, vinegar, & fresh ground pepper

I hope you and your family had the happiest of holidays!

Thanks to solstice, we have made it through the dark times and will be
seeing more light now.  Whoo whoo, I am ready. ;-)

I celebrated Christmas Eve this year with a surprise visit from family.
Our tree was lovely and there were even a few gifts under it.  Santa visited and filled our stockings with organic goodies!

Isaiah and I made cookies and citrus-cinnamon cider and got our last minute shopping done just in time.  I had 2 wonderful days off of work. I relaxed with family, watched "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" with Jim Carrey and hoped for snow.

Isiah & Tara's Citrus-Cinnamon Cider:
Juice of 2 Lemons, 2 Limes, and 2 Satsumas
4 Cups of Water
7 Cinnamon Sticks (just add directly to the mix
Heat, Serve, & Enjoy!

This made our house smell amazing! :-)

Remember Jesus was the
first body surfer;
first to recommend sprouts and healthy eating and first colon
hydrotherepist both described in Dead Sea Scrolls by the Essene tribe;
and, first peace activist, and first of etc!.  Cool dude to celebrate if
you ask me.

I am pasting below some excerpts from a web site on the "Essene Gospel of
Peace".  It is very interesting. You might enjoy.

Jesus, The Christ said:

"Think not that it is sufficient that the angel of water embrace you
outwards only. I tell you truly, the uncleanness within is greater by
much than the uncleanness without. And he who cleanses himself without,
but within remains unclean, is like to tombs that outwards are painted
fair, but are within full of all manner of horrible uncleanliness and
abominations. So I tell you truly, suffer the angel of water to baptize
you also within, that you may become free from all your past sins, and
that within likewise you may become as pure as the river's foam sporting
in the sunlight."

"Seek, therefore, a large trailing gourd, having a stalk the length of a
man; take out its inwards and fill it with water from the river which
the sun has warmed. Hang it upon the branch of a tree, and kneel upon
the ground before the angel of water, and suffer the end of the stalk of
the trailing gourd to enter your hinder parts, that the water may flow
through all your bowels. Afterwards rest kneeling on the ground before
the angel of water and pray to the living God that he will forgive you
all your past sins, and pray the angel of water that he will free your
body from every uncleanness and disease. Then let the water run out from
your body, that it may carry away from within it all the unclean and
evil-smelling things of Satan. And you shall see with your eyes and
smell with your nose all the abominations, and uncleanliness which
defiled the temple of your body; even all the sins which abode in your
body, tormenting you with all manner of pains. I tell you truly, baptism
with water frees you from all of these. Renew your baptizing with water
on every day of your fast, till the day when you see that the water
which flows out of you is as pure as the river's foam. Then betake your
body to the coursing river, and there in the arms of the angel of water
render thanks to the living God that he has freed you from your sins.
And this holy baptizing by the angel of water is: Rebirth unto the new
life. For your eyes shall henceforth see, and your ears shall hear. Sin
no more, therefore, after your baptism, that the angels of air and of
water may eternally abide in you and serve you evermore."

.....And the breath of some became as stinking as that which is loosed
from the bowels, and some had an issue of spittle, and evil-smelling and
unclean vomit rose from their inward parts. All these uncleanliness
flowed by their mouths. In some, by the nose, in others by the eyes and
ears. And many did have a noisome and abominable sweat come from all
their body, over all their skin. And on many limbs great hot boils broke
forth, from which carne out uncleanliness with an evil smell, and urine
flowed abundantly from their body; and in many their urine was all but
dried up and became thick as the honey of bees; that of others was
almost red or black, and as hard almost as the sand of rivers. And many
belched stinking gases from their bowels, like the breath of devils. And
their stench became so great that none could bear it...

Remember that giving is living!  Here is a story from this fall that made me glad to be alive.  I just thought I would share....Since I CARE. ;-)

The best part of my day was when I helped a little boy put his shoes back on and got a high five. This was just after his older sibling said "you are so stupid Emilio" as her and the others walked ahead. The little guy through himself to the ground in the street and grabbed the left shoe and started putting it on his right bare foot. I rode ahead grabbed his other shoe, brought it back to him and suggested he switch feet. He did and I commended him for being so smart and capable. As I helped him fasten the Velcro he looked up at me w a tiny smile. He got up said thank you and we did a high five. The siblings walked back to him, thanked me too and then preceded with him. I felt at that moment that I was exactly where I was suppose to be. I rode away wondering how those messages like "your so stupid" or "what is wrong with you" or "you are too much" effect us over time in our life. I thought of some of the things I heard while growing up and some of the things I have said to my sons. I remember learning that it takes 10 positive affirmations to make up for just one criticism. If that is true then I better get busy affirming myself and my sons. And I hope that we all can begin affirming each other more. I think we all have been criticized and critical enough. ♥ Thanks for reading this through... I appreciate your caring heart! :-)

I am safe.  I am loved.

My thinking is peaceful, calm and centered.

I easily absorb and assimilate all that I need to know and release the past with joy.

This body, mind and soul that make up me, is exactly as it is meant to be.

I am whole and complete just the way I am.  I love and accept myself.

I am willing to change all patterns of criticism.

I lovingly take back my power and eliminate all interference.

Each moment is a new beginning.
All is well.

Happy New You!!!  Yes, each new year, day and moment we have an opportunity to re invent ourselves.  Now we are giving special attention  to health as we re align with our CORE values and look at how we can better CARE for our body, mind and soul.  This instills a refreshed HOPE for a better, happier and healthier future.  2013 is a year for renewal and greater joy.  A new STREAM of consciousness is alive and flowing through me.  My life is just beginning to blossom.  As I open, I am rising up to shine like the sun, from the inside out and you can too!

I started the year off right with a hike to the top of Spencer's Butte with one of my dearest and wisest soul sisters and her 8 month old bundle of love.  We both worked up a slight sweat as we paced ourselves to the top.  We were greeted with the sun and many shining faces.  This has become a ritual on New Years day for me and my dear friend Amy and it is one of the best ways to ring in the new year.  During our hike we talked and gave focus to our intentions. We supported each other and got stronger in our body, mind and and spirit.  The view from the top was especially spectacular this year.  The sun shined and illuminated our glow and the crispy cold air cooled us off quickly.  As we took a few glamor shots, we dug into a fresh bag of cheesy kale chips on top as the perfect treat to fuel us for the hike down.  It was slippery but we managed to make it all the way down on our feet.

Life can seem kinda like our hike in a way.  Slippery at times, challenging but strengthening in many ways.  It is worth the efforts, it is spectacular when we are on top but we don't always land on our feet. I find that as I move through life with flexibility, smiling, keeping an open  heart, and a willingness to forgive myself and others, I experience more of the joy and grace that I appreciate so much.  As you know, that is mostly how I roll, but on many occasions I do fall.  I do not always fall like a leaf, and sometimes I even fall in the same holes that I swore I would never fall in again.  This can be frustrating, embarrassing and utterly human.  Thankfully, however, with a lot of support, a great sense of humor and a spirit that wants to shine on, I keep picking myself up, dusting off and starting again.  Each time with more wisdom, more stories to make me laugh and cry and a humility that makes me relate to much of life.

My clients often ask me how to bridge the gap from over working and stressing to time for relaxation and exercise.  Or how to stop over eating the wrong foods to eating healthy.  When we bridge those gaps we learn to live a fulfilling life with ease and grace. Of course, I do not have all the answers but I do know that sweet forgiveness is one of the first steps.
I also know that I MUST begin to prioritize myself.  I have to stop putting work, socializing or anything including excuses before my health.  We live in our bodies and must take time to CARE for them.  If I do not make time for my health I will be forced to take time for my disease.  That is a truth that I cannot deny. So, ultimately, that is the first step.  I am my priority!!!  I began by setting the intention and scheduling time for exercise, relaxation, meals and elimination.  The word CARE can be used to remind you of the most important things to consider each day.  C for circulation, aka exercise.  I make sure to dance and do yoga 3 to 5 times each week.  A for assimilation, I  eat a meal that will easily absorb and nourish my body.  R for rest and relaxation, I release what stresses me and chill out.  Life is precious!!  And, now for my favorite, E for elimination.  I let go of the old and make way for the new, fresh and vital.  CARE for your self and your life will get better.  Trust me!  It works for me.  When I have a healthy body, my mind is more clear, my emotions are more manageable and balanced, my social life has even improved as I have more energy to enjoy people, and my financial health has improved as my medical expenses decrease.

I have heard over and over, "I cannot afford to eat organic", or "I cannot afford to go to a yoga class".  If you notice yourself saying these things, ask yourself if eating organic or going to yoga class are your priorities. If they are, then you see that these are simply excuses.  Align your priorities with your goals.  If you really and truly want to live healthful, you will stop spending your extra few bucks on lattes, beer, trinkets or whatever your spending habits are and you will find just enough for that green drink and yoga class.  At least that is true for me.  Plus, I always figure that i can pay now by investing in my health or I can pay later for the cost of my disease.

One of the best ways I choose to invest in my health is with frequent colon hydrotherapy.  This is a great way for me to eliminate what no longer serves me and opens space to receive the vital rejuvenation that I seek.  Come see me and experience a fresh start this new year.  Let me help you in assessing your priorities to better integrate your healthy living ideals into reality.

Once I stopped making excuses and decided to make the choice to be happy and healthy, then I began to eat in ways that not only fed my emotions but my body and mind.  Consider the popular Brenda Watson acronym HOPEH for high fiber, O for oils (healthy oils, learn the difference between healthy and deadly oils), P for probiotics, yes, living foods is the answer there and E for enzymes. Enzymes are found in live foods and make every cell in our bodies function.  You can get almost all of your HOPE in a simple green smoothie that can cost about the same as a latte and only take 5 minutes to make and clean up.  See my video below.
I am focusing on restoring my CORE values by remembering these important steps toward balance: Center myself, Optimize my health, Release old patterns, and Elevate my spirit!

And with this I am able to let the STREAM of energy and life flow through me. I attended a class with my 2 Nia White Belt instructors, Allison Wright and Vickie Saito, and experienced their Sensational Touch, Realigning and Empowering a new Me routine!

For more information on my new favorite Nia routine "Touch", by Allison & Vickie, Click Here!

I met a woman in my Nia white belt training at the headquarters last year that is a relationship counselor, a raw food retreat leader and a kick ass new friend. Elke Wollschon with Passionate Alive. Elke taught me that the human spirit has 7 basic needs that must be met in order for us to thrive.

Elke explained;

#1   We have a need to be significant and know that we are loved.  This was not an issue for her as she described growing up as "the apple of her parents eyes".  She said that when this need is not met we may create problems in order to feel significant. I agree with her, when I feel this need being met I feel a sense of safety and value.

#2   We have a need to have certainty.of safety.. Without safety, we are often trying to create that in interesting ways. When I feel certain of my safety, I am empowered to try new things in life..

#3   We have a need for variety.  We need to not be "bored".  In a way, what we need is an uncertainty, I know that is the opposite of the #2 need, so I can see how life gets a little "slippery".  In meeting this need I think some of us may threaten our safety as adventure takes us into the unknown.  Thus, I climbed rocks and mountains with conditions that many people would consider to be dangerous.

#4 & 5   We have a need for love and connection.  I know this need very well.  I was born on Valentines day, I am all about the love.  It is important it is for me to be connected.  I know we all have that need.  As I have traveled distances from my family and original community, I have created new families and communities; we are on our cell phones, Facebook and Twitter when we don't have physical connection.

#6   We need to have growth.  I am often striving to achieve a new goal, or gain a new skill.  It is essential for me to be continually achieving new heights.  Occasionally I have to slow down and just be happy with my past accomplishments and take a break, but before too long I am either refining a skill or taking on a new challenge.

#7   We have a need to for contribution.  This is an obvious need for someone like me who is constantly giving and sharing even when it is not necessary.  My career choice proves this need.  Becoming a parent is another way i have met this need.  I found last year when my business practice was slow and my teenagers didn't need me much, I had to create new ways to contribute.

If you are one of those people who did not have any to all of these needs consistently met in your formative years, acknowledge yourself for how far you have come. You can begin here now, by prioritizing yourself.  Never fear, hope is here.  You deserve it!

In relationships there are other sets of needs.  There are some that can be considered "deal breakers" or "core values".  Elke recommends that we make a list of these for ourselves and share them right away with those we choose to have a relationship with.

As I get to know myself better and strive to have more love, connection, variety, growth and contribution I begin to thrive.  If I don't feel loved or safe, then all hell breaks loose and you all may want to hide your kids, hide your wife and your husbands because "oh lord Jesus there's a fire"!  Ha ha, that is an inside joke that you would get if you are a Facebook friend and watch the youtube post on Sweet Brown last December.  lol!!!

Anyways...  My work with Deb Chorney for personal growth and body talk therapy is going well, and I am continuing to dance Nia and do yoga with Sam at Willow Tree.  I began meditation through the work of Kellyrose, as well as began use of the sensory deprivation tank at Float Om.   If you have interest in any of the above, do check out my peeps.  I highly recommend all these therapies that I mentioned.  They are working great for me, nobody needs to hide their kids or put out fires.  lol  Plus, if you can imagine floating in salt water, in the dark and silence for an hour and a half, then maybe you don't need to try it, but for me it seemed an impossibility.  My mind and body usually keep so busy that to chill for that long seemed like a potential form of torture.  I only lasted a little over an hour before I felt satisfied with the experience, and interestingly, I became aware that my mind and body did calm and I felt the sense peace that I had hoped for.  Plus, it is just cool and the facility is beautiful.

Winter is here and we are seeing more and more light.  Whoo whoo!  As much as I like to snuggle up with my cozy slippers and sip on hot tea as fall and winter brings cooler weather, the long nights and dark days begin to get old.  So, soon I am heading back to Kona for some sunshine, swims with my turtle and dolphin friends and to sip some sweet coconuts on the white sandy beaches.  Kona Gold has room for you, too, if you would like to join me.

I will be teaching a student from Hilo the professional practice of colon hydrotherapy and helping her obtain her certification through I-ACT (International Association of Colon hydrotherapy).
My student is already an ultra sound specialist and is interested in combining the diagnostic procedure with the healing arts.  Clients who would like to see their insides before and after their session can.  It will not only be educational for her, but I know myself and all guests will learn a lot too. We will be working together for 2 weeks and are offering ocean view sessions to guests with an option to receive ultra sound therapy afterwards, as well.  Clients and former students are welcome to attend some of the lectures and classes for no additional fee.  A guest teacher is joining us to teach us the ancient art of sprouting and fermenting foods.  We will also explore some of the local wild food as medicine and nourishment.  There will be discussions on the value and uses of essential oils and their history and much more.

As always, I will be biking for transportation, writing, reading and swimming daily.  I will be practicing eating fresh foods that are local and seasonal while preparing them with love.  All guest may join me in these practices.  This is an opportunity to connect, learn, grow and shine like the sun together.  I am especially looking forward to eating the papaya that grows right outside of my bedroom door, and eating the pineapple that I have been watching grow since planting a while back.  This year we have a new rain water tank that is watering the plants.  The Bodhi and coconut trees are growing faster than I knew possible since last June and the banana trees have seemed to go crazy with growth too.

I also look forward to getting a massage by my dear friend and LMT, Raven on the sand over looking the panoramic ocean view from just outside my bedroom door.  All guest may do the same.  We have a massage table and sheets just waiting to be used.

Please join me here in Eugene at Alder Brooke Healing Arts and experience serenity in my garden sanctuary AND join me on the Big Island of Hawaii at Kona Gold, and let's ride some healing waves! Until then, may all the Blessings Be! Aloha!

Kellyrose Zuvuya of Zuvuya Healing Arts
This last December 1st I courageously set the intention to grow and to align with my highest potential.  I chose to illuminate areas of my conscious to allow me to become free to express, create, receive prosperity, and eliminate any interference between me and inner peace.  When I was still and breathed deeply with awareness, I began to let go of anxiety, tension, doubts and fears that may have been in my way and I developed a sense of safety and trust.  I began to develop a more clear focus of what it is that I truly desire and what my highest purpose in life is. I received nurturing and support as I worked with Kellyrose Zuvuya via her e mail sound healing sessions "21 Days Till Dawn".  Kellyrose recorded 20 minutes of sound activation including meditation healing sessions each day leading up to solstice.  I set the intention to listen each day while also giving my body an opportunity to relax.  I loved the sessions so much that I often listened both morning and night.  I found this practice to be especially grounding and up lifting as I experienced some challenging or "dark" times before the return of light.  This practice was amazing for me.  Learn more by checking out ZuvuyaHeals and rise up to shine like the star that you are!

David Bove

If you are in the need of a new doctor, I recommend Dr. David Bove.  I got to enjoy a nice chat with him last month over some kombucha and khitcheri.  I learned that although Dr Bove had impressed me 10 years ago when I first started to work with him that he has continued his expertise and become an even more proficient doctor.  I have heard from many of my satisfied clients over the years that they got the help they needed from him with issues as serious as cancer and diabetes but also digestive issues, skin problems, heavy metal toxicity and more.  Dr. Bove also takes the extra time needed to really get to know clients.  He works with a team of other health care specialist locally including medical doctors. This dedication and caring is not heard of often and is commendable if you ask me.  I personally relied on Dr. Bove when I suffered from strep throat this fall after my immune system couldn't beat the bacterial infection on it's own.  I not only got the help I needed but his care was budget-able.  I have high amounts of respect and appreciation for Dr. Bove and recommend him to anyone who is looking to improve their health naturally.  He also recommends colon hydrotherapy and is willing to help my clients get the referrals for sessions with me.  Gotta love him!!!  Thanks David!!

Matthew Sieradski

Dr. Bove referred me to Matthew Peters Sieradski, MacOM, LAc and I recently began working with him.  This was another awesome choice on my behalf.  Matthew is masterful in learning about what the body needs though pulse and tongue reading, an ancient Chinese practice.  I found that by working with Matthew my oldest son, Isaiah, was able to heal from both bronchitis and sinusitis with speed and ease.  I say ease but then again I was not the one getting poked with needles, having cupping done for my upper back and on my chest and drinking the "nasty tasting" herbal teas.  I just paid for it, made the concoctions, and served it up with a smile, that part was easy.  Check Matt out if you are looking for an effective, knowledgeable, experienced, affordable and highly recommended health care practitioner.

Matthew Sieradski, MAcOM, LAc offers acupuncture and craniosacral therapy treatments, as well as Chinese herbal medicine prescriptions at his clinic located in Eugene, Oregon. Matthew also teaches several ongoing Chinese internal martial arts (taiji, bagua) and health promotion (qigong) classes locally. And finally, Matthew serves as a minister and spiritual teacher in the tradition of the Center for Sacred Sciences, a local interfaith congregation.

Meet my Dad,
Jonathan Brooke Alder
He has been an inspiration for my personal healing arts and professional practice

My dad passed away, 6 months after being diagnosed with acute leukemia, on 11/4/1994.  He was 46 years old.   Before my dad passed we became very close.  My dad encouraged me in college at Colorado State University (CSU).  I was taking classes in dance, forensic science, zoology, philosophy and first aid at the time.  Since I couldn't major in rock climbing, I didn't know what I wanted to focus on.  My dad sat me down for a heart to heart talk one day.  He said "You know Tara, you can be and do anything in this life.  And since you have my genes (lol), you can be great at whatever you choose.  But, if you want to be excellent, at something, you must focus on that one thing.  Become a master at the one thing before you expand into other areas".  I miss him very much.

Just over a year after his passing, my son Isaiah Brooke Alder was born.  Isaiah was born on my dads dads birthday.  At that time I had dropped out of college at CSU and moved to Eugene, OR to study Holistic Health, Nutrition, Early Childhood Education and Spanish.  (Clearly I wasn't taking my dads advise yet)

A couple years later after over a year of nutrition classes and still not being clear at precisely what I wanted to focus on, both my grandmothers were admitted to the hospital.  My grandma Myrtle Royse had suffered a stroke.  20 years prior, despite her wholesome eating choices, she suffered from colon cancer.  Fortunately, she had been treated successfully with colon resection and chemotherapy.  I remember this well because after her surgery when she "had to go", she really had to go.  There was no colon to absorb fluids and temporarily store bowel wastes.  Just 2 days later my other grandmother, Lyndall Alder, was admitted to the hospital with intestinal obstruction.  Both of my grandmothers passed away 2 days apart from each other.  As I understand it, Grandma Lyn, as those fond of her called her, essentially died of complications to constipation!  When I found that out, and since I knew grandma Myrtles health history, and since I had had my own colon health issues in the past, I decided that moment to sell everything I owned (including my bed and my car) to go to colon hydrotherapy school.  Within 2 days I had been accepted to apprentice at the Gerber Medical Center in Reno, NV, studying directly under the colon hydrotherapist Carol Christian and the medical doctor himself, Michael Gerber.  I quickly found buyers and was proud to temporarily leave my home to take on this new career educational experience. This required more focus and effort than anything I had ever done before (other than birthing my 2 sons, which remain with me happy and healthy and attending high school here in Eugene).  I am blessed to be able to share this ancient, and natural practice with you today as my profession, here at Alder Brooke Healing Arts and in Hawaii at Kona Gold.

My dad wrote a credo.  He made me and my brothers sign it.  Words of wisdom.  My dads spirit lives on!
I have adapted this credo for my practice at Alder Brooke Healing Arts.  Thanks dad!

1. Think good thoughts and say good things.

2. Read - if you read 5 books on any subject, you may become an expert.

3. Set goals - short term and long term. Put them in writing.

4. Integrity with others. To thine own self be true. Honesty and
integrity with others develops TRUST.

5. Self discipline. Keep commitments - to others and to yourself.

6. Be responsible. Your lot in life is strictly up to you. Follow
through with your commitments. Check in to ensure completion.

7. Seek out the right kind of friends and associates.

8. Learn to handle the failures and setbacks.

9. Go the 2nd mile. Do TWICE what is expected.

10. Invest in yourself. Be open to learn, have fun and grow.

11. Forgive. Give a 2nd chance (but maybe 3 strikes and you're out).

12. Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you.

13. Allow yourself to feel emotions and allow others the same.

14. Recognize that other people are different with regard to values,
emotions, etc. This is okay.

15. Listen to others -- you may learn something. You rarely learn
anything while you're talking.

16. Mistakes will be made. But it's truly a sad mistake when nothing
is learned from your mistakes.

18. Never give up.

Believe in Yourself!
